Favourable & unfavourable activities by element

Each day's element shapes what it is traditionally good and poor for:

Choosing a good day to plant a garden

Planting and sowing favour Wood days, the element of growth and new life; what a Wood day warns against is the opposite gesture — logging and cutting living wood. In zurkhai, timing an undertaking is a way of aligning it with the month's rhythm: the lunar day, the day's element and animal, the weekday and your own birth-sign all feed into the judgement — which is why two people can be given a different "good day" for the very same task. The reading above uses the day's element; the Zurkhai app adds your personal birth chart for a fuller answer. For a wedding, a long journey or a major move, many people still ask a zurkhai lama in person, who can weigh the full birth chart — year, month, day and hour.
